Like many other healthcare facilities, the office is understaffed and overworked. We do our best to stay on time. Unfortunately, we are overwhelmed by the sheer number of sick children needing care. My staff is chronically tired and overwhelmed. Unlike many offices, we are open twelve hours per day. I have a very dedicated team.

Nationally, healthcare worker burnout is high. People a quitting, and replacements are hard to find. Last week, six members of my staff were out with COVID. We aren’t showing up for the paycheck. We are not trying to get rich. We are here to ease suffering and promote health for all the children in our community.

You can help.

  • When you schedule, tell us about every problem you want to address at a visit. If time is available, we will address all your concerns. Otherwise, we will address the most critical issue and schedule time for the other problems at a later date.
  • Make appointments for every child you want to have seen. It takes time to examine patients, write a progress note, write prescriptions and orders.
  • Show up early. If not early then on time. Please don’t show up late. We understand that stuff happens. We cannot typically accommodate patients who arrive more than 15 minutes after their appointment.
  • Urgent care deals with problems that started over the last few days. It isn’t for an issue that has been present for months. These problems will require a scheduled appointment.
  • Urgent care appointments are unscheduled. We do not provide an appointment time. You may wait for five minutes or fifty minutes. The sickest children will receive our attention first.
  • We understand that waiting is difficult for children and frustrating for parents. Please be kind to my staff. They are my teammates and friends. They are there for you. If you need to be angry, go outside and kick the tires on your car. If you feel you were treated poorly, please reach out and let us know.

If we work together, we can get through this difficult time. Help us so that we can help you. We want you to be happy with our services. We will continue to do our best. Hopefully, that will be good enough.

Shout It Out
