Dr. Tallo was born and raised in the Bronx. He received a bachelor of music from the State University of New York at Potsdam, where he majored in performance and music education. He played solo four-mallet marimba. Dr. Tallo participated as a percussionist in the ceremonies for the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. He has played with multiple ensembles at numerous venues, including Carnegie Hall.
After graduation, Dr. Tallo worked at the Bronx Center for Multiply Handicapped Children in New York City. During this time, he developed a passion for caring for disabled children. Dr. Tallo attended Columbia University in New York City to fulfill his mission, where he completed premedical studies.
Dr. Tallo received his doctorate in medicine in 1993 from the Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University. During medical school, Dr Tallo received a fellowship from the Howard Huges Medical Institute to model the molecular structure of the Band 3 protein in erythrocytes via computer simulation. Additionally, Dr Tallo published a study exploring the morbidity and mortality of children conceived via IVF.
Dr. Tallo completed an internship and residency at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CHMC) in Cincinnati. CHMC has consistently ranked among the top five children’s hospitals in the United States for the past three decades. During this time, Dr. Tallo was exposed to every manner and kind of pediatric disease. He received training from the most highly regarded pediatric subspecialists in the United States. Dr. Tallo was honored by CHMC with an award in adolescent medicine. In 1996, Dr. Tallo received his board certification and became a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Since graduating from residency, Dr. Tallo has been employed by Marion General Hospital, Parkview Health Systems, and a general pediatric group practice. In 2002, Dr. Tallo started a solo pediatric practice called the Children’s Health Center. In 2017, that practice moved location and changed its name to Kids Healthcare PC. As a person with dyslexia, Dr. Tallo has a profound interest in caring for children with learning disabilities. Dr. Tallo has been voted among the top three pediatricians in Northeast Indiana.
Dr. Tallo has been married to Kathleen Tallo for more than thirty years. Mrs. Tallo manages office operations. Dr. and Mrs. Tallo have raised four children. Dr. Tallo is a certified scuba diving instructor and underwater photographer/videographer (see photos at tallomd.com and videos at vimeo.com/tallomd). His photographic adventures have allowed him to explore life on multiple continents.
Dr Tallo regards his life of service to be among his principal blessings. Dr Tallo has an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Indiana. Dr Tallo has an entirely unblemished record of care. He treats patients and their families like his family. He does not rush. Dr Tallo believes in educating parents so that they make informed decisions as parents. He endeavors to make every child’s first experience in medicine positive. Dr. Tallo believes in disease prevention. As such, he happily abides by the vaccination recommendations outlined by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the American Counsel on Immunization Practices (ACIP). He respects a family’s right to differ in opinion. He does not participate in decisions that may place a child or community of children at risk for life-threatening preventable infectious diseases. Dr Tallo welcomes families from all cultures and religions. Every child is welcome and has a home in his office.
